Shortlist announced for 2016 Clanwilliam Pharmacist Awards

The Clanwilliam Pharmacist Awards aim to recognise the vital work undertaken by pharmacists across Ireland

Ireland’s leading pharmacists were honoured at a special reception in the Dean Hotel in Dublin last night (Thursday, October 20th) where the shortlist for the coveted 2016 Clanwilliam Pharmacist Awards was announced.

Twenty-six candidates from across the country have been shortlisted for nine different awards this year, after being nominated by their patients, peers and colleagues for their outstanding contribution to the sector.

Speaking at the shortlist announcement, pharmacist and Chair of the Clanwilliam Pharmacist Awards Committee, Ultan Molloy said; “Once again we were very impressed with the high calibre of pharmacists who were nominated for awards this year. Pharmacists across the length and breadth of the country are doing outstanding work in the health service everyday, often behind closed doors, and don’t always get the recognition they deserve for their dedication to their patients and the sector. The Clanwilliam Pharmacist Awards aim to help recognise this dedication.”

Jennifer Hughes, Director of Marketing at Clanwilliam Group added; “The contribution of pharmacists to their local communities and the healthcare community as a whole is invaluable and it is these efforts that we aim to recognise and celebrate at the Clanwilliam Pharmacist Awards. We know first-hand the dedication and commitment they have for the profession and are delighted to honour all pharmacists across multiple categories. We want to express our gratitude and congratulations to all finalists and pharmacists for everything they do.”

Now in their eleventh year, the Clanwilliam Pharmacist Awards aim to celebrate pharmacy and raise awareness of the outstanding work being undertaken by pharmacists across the country, while raising funds for the Pharmacy Benevolent Fund.

The winners of the 2016 Clanwilliam Pharmacist Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony at Dublin’s Mansion House on November 26, 2016. The Liz Herbert Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by JPA Brenson Lawlor and the Overall Pharmacist of the Year Award, sponsored by United Drug will also bestowed on worthy recipients on the night.
